Now the photographer doesn't need to reverse or remove the hood everytime they wish to protect the lens from dust. Instead, they can simply slip the hood hat onto the front of the hood while in place and provide just as much protection for the critical front lens elements as would be provided by a traditional lenscap. The neoprene material will adjust to fit both round and elliptical "petal"-type hoods.
